Kindergarten (KG) pupils in Kosane M/A primary in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region study in dust over lack of a classroom.

Assemblymember for the area Mr.Fosu Kyei Kingsford who disclosed this to the media stressed that the school is one of the oldest schools in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region.

The school which was established in 1964 has since not seen expansion hence the challenge.

Mr. Kyei indicated that the community through communal labor put up a structure for the pupils which is not even conducive for learning.

He added that there is no toilet facility in the school which is also not helping the health of the pupils in this COVID-19 era.

Mr. Fosu Kyei however appealed to the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to come to their aid.

Commentary

President John Dramani Mahama during his term in office lashed out at critics of his schools under trees programme saying it is a work in progress.

According to him, political opponents are using the programme to score cheap political points.

Speaking at the annual Tortsogbeza Festival of the chiefs and people of Sokpoe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, President Mahama said his administration has a strategy in place to eliminate all schools under trees by 2020.

The President also explained that the strategy adopted by the government will ensure that the infrastructure deficit in the educational sector is covered.

However, the situation still remains a challenge as 2020 has elapsed but school children still learn under the tree with others learning in deathtrap school facilities.
