The Wenchi Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has begun the 2nd round of COVID-19 free Vaccination Exercise in the Municipality.

The Wenchi Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has begun the 2nd round of COVID-19 free Vaccination Exercise in the Municipality.

The mass vaccination exercise which began on Thursday 21st April 2022 to end on Monday 25th April 2022 is part of an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in the Municipality.

The program is under the theme "Protect Yourself, Protect Your Family, Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19 Now"

The Directorate has deployed trained teams of experienced health workers to carry out the free vaccination exercise to all eligible persons from 15 years and above including pregnant women to protect them against COVID-19.

In this regard, vaccines will be available at the health centers and vaccination posts in all neighborhoods.

Moderna, Astrazeneca, and Johnson & Johnson are administered to 18 years old and above while Pfizer is for persons age 15.

The booster dose is recommended for people with underlying conditions, health workers, security personnel, and officials of arms of government.

The Municipal Director for Health Services Robbert Kwaku Bio urged the public to show up with an ID card and Vaccination card at the various designated centers in the Municipality to be vaccinated with the assurance that the vaccines are safe, effective, and free.

They reduce COVID-19 disease severity and prevent hospitalization and death. He advised all to immediately report to the nearest health facility if they feel unwell.

Also, the continuous wearing of face masks, frequent handwashing with soap under running water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, and physical distancing should be observed.
