The Member of Parliament (MP) Hon Tina Gifty Mensah together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Patrick Kumor, have celebrated the annual 'My first day at school', with some schools in the Municipality.

It is an annual ritual to join schools to celebrate and welcome new kindergarten entrants.

Accompanying them were the Acting Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Nancy Pertey, Municipal Education Director, Mr Charles Odoom, Constituency Executives and some heads of departments of the Municipal Assembly.

The Member of Parliament,  addressing the kindergarten children, gave them some pencils, crayons, biscuits, drinks and some toffees.

This gesture is to inspire the children to always want to come to school hoping to receive more of these and also be happy.

The gesture, also, leaves a lasting impression on the minds of the new entrants.

The MP, who is the Deputy Health Minister, also used the opportunity to motivate teachers to be patient as they teach the children since it's their first time in school and they are yet to learn what is good and bad.

She thanked the health workers who were there to screen the children and check their health status. The exercise to check if they are fit and of sound minds to be in school.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Patrick Kumor, in a short address thanked all teachers and urged them to continue giving out their best to ensure students always get the best of education and also pledged his support whenever they call on him.

After touring the schools, the MP and MCE visited the Gonsee Agape Down to inspect the ongoing road construction.

In an interview with soireenews, the residents expressed their excitement and appreciation towards the MP and MCE for fulfilling their promises and wished for God's blessing for them.

The MP and MCE used this opportunity to urge all to exercise patience and that everybody will get their share of good roads.
