Following this development, the members of the Association have declared their unflinching support for flagbearer of the National National Democratic Congress (NDC) and called on the eligible voters to vote for him to win the political power in the 2024 general election to implement this mega policy which they believed is a game changer and will help turn around Ghana’s economy.

THE TRANSPORT Operators Association of Ghana has publicly endorsed former President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy, describing the policy as a pivotal shift transcending mere operational changes, fostering enhanced productivity and accessibility.

Following this development, the members of the Association have declared their unflinching support for flagbearer of the National National Democratic Congress (NDC) and called on the eligible voters to vote for him to win the political power in the 2024 general election to implement this mega policy which they believed is a game changer and will help turn around Ghana’s economy.

A “24-hour economy” refers to the continuous cyclical expansion and operation of economic activities over 24 hours a day 7 days a week, throughout the year, thus “an economic system in which businesses and services operate around the clock, 24 hours a day.”
The members of the Association made the call in a a crowded press conference in Accra today.
It was addressed by the leadership of the Association in the persons Yaw Barimah- Chairman,True Drivers, Paa Willie- Chairman, Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, Mr David Agboado-PRO, CDAG, Nana Owiredu-Deputy Secretary, CDAG and Mr Sammy Amoah- Deputy PRO, GPRTU noted that the initiative is believed to break the constraints of time, offering drivers increased fuel access, improved convenience for passengers, and overall economic advancement, endorsed by various transport unions for its potential to enhance services and perpetually engage governmental agencies.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, let us begin by saying that after extensive deliberations on the 24hour Economy policy as announced by John Mahama with transport operators including GPRTU, we have no doubt that the policy is a game changer and will help turn around Ghana’s economy," they noted.
The members of the Association noted that 
under a properly implemented 24hour economy they are rest assured that commercial centers such as the ports and harbors, market centers and essential services will be running shifts to ensure night time operations.
"We are certain also that under a the game changer 24Hour Economy factories and production firms will also run day and night shifts and therefore providing us with passengers. Under the current system, we mostly burn our fuel in our quest to have passengers during the night but with no success.
"To say drivers are suffering under this current system is an understatement. We are indeed dying and cannot literally wait for the full implementation of this great policy which will push our business higher," they noted.
They warmed that "We would like to throw caution to political parties and figures who have began discrediting the policy to be very careful. Ghana needs a 360 degrees turn around of our economy to make lives better and it is the 24Hour Economy policy that can make that magic for us.
"If Abbosey Okai is operating in the night,if DVLA is operating in the night, if our mechanics are operating in the night, fuel stations, vulcanizers if they’re all working in the night can you imagine the number of people that will additionally be employed plus the comfortability and relief it will bring to drivers when we have our vehicles breaking down during the night? they asked.
"We are entreating all Ghanaians to embrace this policy and take advantage of it to grow our economy.

PRESS STATEMENT BY TRANSPORT OPERATORS ON MAHAMA’s 24HOUR ECONOMY POLICY
Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, Good morning and thank you very much for responding positively to our call.
We are counting on you to help propagate this all important message we wish to put across to the Ghanaian populace.
As drivers there is no doubt that we are  key stakeholders in the economic chain of this country and thus very concerns about economic policies instituted by governments and even key policy announcements by political figures seeking the mandate to govern this country.
We have followed keenly discussions surrounding a mega policy announcement made by the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and even more particularly statements made by the NPP leader Vice President Bawumia and some influential members of the NPP as well.
Ladies and Gentlemen, let us begin by saying that after extensive deliberations on the 24hour Economy policy as announced by John Mahama with transport operators including GPRTU, we have no doubt that the policy is a game changer and will help turn around Ghana’s economy.
Thus we wish to state categorically that we give the policy our one hundred percent support.
