We will not be distracted-Deputy Communication Officer

The Deputy Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn has indicated that despite the favorable predictions for the NDC by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), his outfit would not take anything to chance in their bid to win the 2024 general elections.

According to him, though the grounds remained fertile for the NDC, no prediction of their victory would sway the attention of the party.

He, however, alluded to the fact that research findings were very important in marketing and remained a needed tool in breaking new grounds, he maintained that they would not leave things to chance.

"Even fake or sponsored research must be analyzed for competitive advantage", he indicated.

He said that much as it is important to gather data for analysis, it is important to understand why a group of people behave in a particular way.

He explained further that John Mahama who won the 2012 elections with some 5.5 million votes while in 2016, has his votes dropped to 4.7 votes for some reasons.

"In 2020, we were able to pull the election to a runoff, debatable as it may sound. Unprecedented in the history of our elections in Ghana for a first-time president to suffer that fate. The NDC votes ballooned far above the 2012 victory figures of 5.5 million votes to 6.3 million votes", he noted.

"Don't be fooled by the results announced by Jean Mensah in her private room where she was greeting us good morning as late as 5:00 pm. No candidate got 50% of the total valid votes", he further said.

The last three elections, he indicated saw H.E. John Mahama leading for the NDC.

"I am happy all the reports talk about a victory for the NDC and some with if or when but we won't be distracted or carried away" he assured.

Mr. Gunn indicated that the work to victory was on the ground and not in predictions.

"Mr. Ben Ephson's finding on the other hand endorsed H.E.John Dramani Mahama but not with Profess Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman's ticket. I will not worry my head so much about this because thankfully, the NDC does not open nomination for running mates but remains the responsibility of Mr. Mahama in consultation with the council of elders", he noted.

With just years ahead of the 2024 general elections, he called on all party faithfuls to get involved to clinch the needed victory.
