We Never Issued Death Threat On Gt. Accra Regional Minister - Agbogbloshie Onion Sellers Declared
Mr Henry Quartey

Scores of onion sellers at Agbogbloshie in Accra have described the recent public pronouncement by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey to the effect that the traders were planning to contract a spiritualist to kill him as a complete lie.

According to the onion sellers, the statement made by Mr Quartey who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is very outrageous, misleading misconception and a sinister plot being hatched by the Minister to destroy their reputations and make them look bad in the eyes of the general public.

"How can we go and pay for the killing of the Minister who is doing his mandatory tasks to achieve the Let’s Make Accra Work agenda.

"We do ask that is Henry Quartey being the only minister who relocated traders to another place in Accra. So if other appointed Ministers in Accra had managed and succeeded in relocating more traders from their previous market sale locations to their present locations and we want to ask whether our colleagues who were affected had contracted the spiritualists to kill those previous Ministers who ordered for the exercises.?.

"The answer to this question is complete no! So how is it that we are planning to kill him? This statement must be treated as lies and mischievous," scores onion sellers at Agbogbloshie stated.

Their statement was in reaction to the allegations of contracting a spiritualist to kill Mr Quartey.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Net 2 TV, Mr Quartey revealed that he has uncovered that the onion sellers at Agbogbloshie planed a death against his life.

The death against his life, according to the minister, was in connection with his outfit plans to relocate the traders to Adjen Kotuku which didn't go well with the traders.

But in a visit to Agbogbloshie market in Accra on Friday, June 19, 2021, to find out from the traders why they wanted to kill Mr Quartey, scores of the onion sellers at Agbogbloshie denied flatly knowing the knowledge of someone saying to kill him the minister.

"In fact for us here we never heard anywhere that someone is planning to use a spiritualist to kill Mr Henry Quartey, we are all Ghanaians who law-abiding citizens. So if that is the allegations is making against us then we can say that he is lying.

"And we dare him to made public names of onion sellers at Agbogbloshie who are planning to contract the juju man to kill him. Minister you hit below your belt so we must apologize to us because our hearts are clean of any evil plans against you," they explained.

They argued that there is no iota of truth in the claims of the Minister and urged the general public to disregard the allegation and subsequently treat it with all the contempt it deserves.

The traders stated that they have not in any way resisted the relocation plans of the city authorities, saying that they only requested adequate time for them to prepare instead of being moved forcibly.

“We beg the Minister, we never said we will not relocate so he should not out of anger move us forcefully but give us two years so that by then we can pay off the loans we’ve injected into our business, they added.
