Many vegetable farmers or growers at Nsutam in the South Fanteakwah District of the Eastern Region have called on the NADMO, and the District Assembly (government) to come to their aid.

Their call comes at the back after flooding which occurred 4 days ago destroyed several acres of their vegetable farms.

The Spokesperson for the farmers at Nsutam in the Fanteakwah District of the Eastern Region, Rev Atta Owusu said that the growers are in turmoil after their ready-for-harvest vegetables have totally been destroyed by the flooding.

Rev. Atta narrated that the farmers need urgent financial assistance from NADMO and the government to restart a new farm in order to settle their loans.

He estimated the total cost of the damages to a sum of over GHC 60,000.

He revealed that should the government of Ghana does not intervene most of the farmers look likely to commit suicide looking at the extent of damage caused to their farms and the loans collected from banks.
