We must help to protect animals in Forest Reserves - Minister Urges Ghanaians
Dr Kwaku Afriyie

The Minister of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation, Dr Kwaku Afriyie has called for actions by all Ghanaians to protect animals in the forest range reserves of the country.

Dr Afriyie made the call when he was addressing the participants at a three days conference being organized by Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The event was aimed at discussing issues that cut across animal welfare, wildlife and environmental conservation.

Dr Afriyie revealed that the purpose of the conference is to discuss the welfare of animals in Africa.

He urged Ghanaians to play a vital role to "protect and preserve the few animals that are left in our forest reserves.

"There are a lot of animals which we used to see in the olden days but now, because of human activities, we don't see them again," he said.
