The Domiabra-Obom Chiefs, Elders and Queen mothers Association in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra region have appealed to the government to carve a new District out of the current Ga South Municipality.

The Association comprising about 90 communities and their Chiefs, Elders, Queen mothers in the Domiabra-Obom Constituency noted that the large nature of the Ga South Municipality is making it difficult for some areas in Domiabra-Obom Constituency to get their share of the national cake.

The General Secretary of the Association, Nii Lante Edward Lamptey made the appeal at the official inaugural ceremony of the Domiabra-Obom Chiefs, Elders, and Queen mothers Association at Kofi-Kwei in the Ga South Municipality.

The Association was conceived with the prime reason of uniting the efforts of all the Chiefs in the Domiabra-Obom Constituency and to find the needed solutions and developmental needs of the people.

Addressing the gathering, Nii Lante Edward Lamptey noted that the move would enhance effective local governance and ensure transparency and accountability to help in the rapid pace of socio-economic development to the doorstep of the people in the area.

He stated that the Association sought to foster a good working relationship with any ruling government adding that the Association is strictly non-partisan and will work with any political party in power.

Nii Lante Edward Lamptey further pleaded with the government to upgrade the road network in the area, especially Ashalaja to Ashifla, Kwaku Bamfo to Adawukwa, Obom to Kwesi Nyarko among other roads to aid the easy transportation of farm produce.

He, therefore, appealed to the government to fully address these needs tabled now and the next three years saying; the Association would be grateful to have their needs fully addressed.

The Obom Mankralo, Nii Addo I, stated that the Chiefs of the area are fully prepared to give out lands for the construction of senior high schools, hospitals, markets among others to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth and to improve their lives.

He appealed to individuals and the government to establish an agro-processing factory or light industry to create a ready market for farm produce and to provide jobs for the people especially the youth.

The Member of Parliament for Domiabra-Obom Constituency, Sophia Karen Ackuaku, commended the Chiefs, Elders and the Queen mothers for the formation and the inauguration of the Association which according to her is a sign of unity.

She pledged her commitment to supporting the Constituency by improving the road network and educational infrastructure.
