The Chief of Dwenedabi in the Offinso-North District, Nana Osei Bediako, has called on his colleague chiefs and other traditional office rulers to step up their gatekeeping roles of protecting water bodies, fertile farm lands and environment from being endangered by the illegal mining activities.
 
"We must all have to rise to the call and support the government's efforts to protect our national natural resources,the traditional rules told Soireenews.com.
 
Nana Osei Bediako stressed he would work closely with government and other chiefs to effectively manage the country’s natural resources in his area of jurisdiction.
 
According to Nana Osei Bediako, he has started planting trees around the rivers in Dwenedabi community and its environs. 
He indicated that this programme is in the stake of his (ten) 10 years anniversary on the Dwenedabi stool as the  Dwenedabihene and he has started doing this to embark on the protection of the natural resources. 
"Ghana has any resource that is responsible of helping develop the country and it is by this time to protect it and make it useful for the next generation," Dwenedabihene stressed.
He advised the chiefs and leaders of the country to make ensure the fight against galamsey activities to help protect the land and rivers of their communities.
