NBSSI, MasterCard Foundation offers entrepreneurship skills to 700 young people in Asunafo North  

The Government of Ghana through the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation has offered entrepreneurship training to 700 young people in the Asunafo North Municipality of Ahafo Region

The Government of Ghana through the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation has offered entrepreneurship training to 700 young people in the Asunafo North Municipality of Ahafo Region.

The program started with 100 people in the first phase (batch).

The beneficiaries who were taking through hairdressing, fashion designing, and be provided with start-up kits to establish their businesses after three years.

The participants among school dropouts, teenage and single parents, widows, and other marginalized groups are expected to acquire some requisite free enterprise skills to start their own businesses at the end of the training.

According to the NBSSI, the training formed part of the government’s efforts to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth to make them national assets.

The government is also providing technical and financial support services to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to facilitate business development.

The Asunafo North Municipal Director of Business Advisory Centre under NBSSI, Mr. Stephen Thomas Afreh Alias S. T. Afreh explained that a lot of the youth do not have any work to do therefore it is NBSSI's vision is to eliminate poverty in the various societies of Ghana. He believes the program will help them to start something small on their own.

He declared that NBSSI will train applicants in batches therefore the 700 applicants should be rest assured that they will not be left out.
