Wales have cancelled their squad announcement on Tuesday ahead of the international break due next week.

This is as a result of the arrest of Ryan Giggs on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend.

The Sun reports that the Police were called to respond to a disturbance at his home in Salford on Sunday night.

It quotes a Greater Manchester Police statement which says a 46-year-old man was arrested and questioned on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault involving a woman in her thirties, who sustained minor injuries that did not require any treatment.

It added that the man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

His representatives said he denies all alleged news surrounding the assault made against him and is fully cooperating with the police.

"He is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigation," a statement released on behalf of Giggs revealed.

Giggs was supposed to hold a press conference on Tuesday to announce his squad for Wales upcoming matches against the USA, and Nations League fixtures with the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

“The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the men's national team manager Ryan Giggs,” an FAW spokesman told the PA news agency.

“The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time.”

The 46-year-old was appointed Wales manager in January 2018, succeeding Chris Coleman, and has steered them to qualification for Euro 2020, rescheduled for next summer after the coronavirus pandemic forced the tournament's postponement.
