Goals in either half by Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock ensured Arsenal bounced back from consecutive defeats to defeat Southampton 2-0 at St Mary's Stadium.

 

 

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang crashed an effort against the crossbar before Arsenal took the lead after 20 minutes.

Nketiah intercepted goalkeeper Alex McCarthy's pass and followed up to tap into an empty net.

 

 

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse grazed the crossbar with a sweeping strike before Arsenal's Emiliano Martinez, starting in place of the injured Bernd Leno, saved superbly from Danny Ings.

Jack Stephens received a red card after bringing down Aubameyang late on before Joe Willock made it 2-0 with three minutes remaining.  

 

 

The Arsenal substitute swept in after McCarthy had parried Alexandre Lacazette's shot.
