President George Weah suspended the officials and requested an investigation after the US imposed sanctions on them for their alleged involvement in corruption.

Among the three officials is Nathaniel McGill, the minister for presidential affairs and chief of staff for President George Weah.

Others include Bill Twehway, who is in charge of the Monrovia port, and Sayma Syrenius Cephus, who serves as both the solicitor general and chief prosecutor.

The three are charged with "destroying Liberia's democratic process for their," reads a statement.
