US issues security alert to its citizens in Kenya

A security warning regarding potential terrorist strikes in Kenya has been issued by the United States to its residents there.

The statement cautions that foreigners and visitors may be attacked without prior notice in establishments including hotels, embassies, restaurants, and malls.

It happens just hours after Kenyan authorities revealed the identities of five men they were looking for because of their connections to the Islamist group Al-Shabab.

Due to alleged attacks in the coastal town of Lamu, they are on Kenya's most wanted list.

Attacks on civilians, security personnel, and government facilities in northern and coastal Kenya have been attributed to the terrorist organization.

However, the al-Qaeda-affiliated group has had significant setbacks recently, losing top commanders, hundreds of fighters, and vast swaths of territory in central and southern Somalia that they had long held.
