UEFA Announces Most Expensive Squad [Top 10]

UEFA has published a report, revealing Manchester United had the most expensive squad ever assembled at the end of the 2023 financial year.

United players cost a massive £1.21bn in transfer fees in total.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid also had squads that cost over €1bn at the end of the financial year in view.

City is in second place, with their squad costing €1.286bn (£1.1bn), Chelsea €1.084bn (£927m) and Madrid €1.031bn (£882m).

Liverpool €905m (£774m) and Arsenal €890m (£761m) are sixth and seventh, respectively.

The most expensive assembled squad in Europe according to UEFA include;

3. Chelsea – £927m

4. Real Madrid – £882m

5. PSG – £802m

6. Liverpool – £774m

7. Arsenal – £761m

8. Juventus – £658m

9. Tottenham – £570m

10. Inter Milan – £504m

Despite having the most-expensively assembled squad in the world, United still only finished third in the Premier League last term, 14 points behind champions Manchester City.

This season has gone even worse for them, as they currently sit sixth in the table, and are in real danger of missing out on Champions League football.
