The actor gained notoriety when he celebrated his birthday at the Bremang graveyard while dressed in traditional Kente clothes and accompanied by cakes and drinks.

The incident spurred contentious discussions on a number of social media sites.

Oboy Siki explained in an interview with AMBASSADOR TV GH that the location selection was a highly spiritual and personal endeavor rather than a marketing gimmick.

It was unrelated to social media fads. Never. Trends come to me without needing to celebrate my birthday in a graveyard since I am constantly making waves on social media. I publicly stated that I pray that my Maker (God) calls me to rest in 2024. I also revealed that I had dreams from my ancestors telling me to feed them on my birthday.

Oboy Siki elaborated on the family connection, saying that time constraints forced him to choose the cemetery instead of his original plan to carry out the directive in his hometown.

"I haven't heard from my ancestors yet, so I'm not sure if they are happy with what I done for them, but I know they will talk to me in my dreams very soon," he stated.
