The Operators of the Tamale timber market have dare government to reverse the sale of the timber market land.

The land is a property of the Forestry Commission and according to Operators, it has been offered for sale to a private developer and Timber operators have been told to vacate.

According to them, when they first came to the grounds, it was a water log area, so they bought gravel's to fill the place to make it acceptable for trade.

They revealed that vacating will not only affect livelihoods and businesses but may also infringe on their rights hence their decision not to move out.

Mr Ebo Yahaya Mbri who spoke on behalf of the executive said, they were asked to report to the Metropolitan Assembly and in honouring the call,  the leaders of the Assembly informed them that half of the timber market has been sold to a private developer, so they must vacate from that portion.

He revealed their fury at the decision before the Metro leaders informed him that their duty is to provide land permit so they are just to notify them about what has happened.

He further noted that findings from the Forestry Commission revealed that no letter has been received from the central government, that half of the timber market has been sold out.

The Operators of the Tamale timber market have therefore appealed that anyone who has a hand in the purchase to show withdraw for the reason that their daily bread depends on transactions on the grounds.
