Thousands of displaced people have reportedly been coming in Beni, the region's capital, according to aid workers in Ituri province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

They are escaping a wave of assaults carried out by Islamist insurgents from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the province.
