The Ghana Tourism Authority is looking for event ideas for 'December in GH 2022.'

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has issued a call for submissions for event organizers and promoters to submit suggestions for inclusion in the calendar of events for the much-anticipated 'December in GH' campaign, which will take place in December 2022.

This news comes as the Authority prepares for an expected rise in international arrivals as travel restrictions throughout the world are eased.

All event organizers interested in having their event endorsed as an official 'Beyond the Return' program are invited to submit formal proposals to the Beyond the Return (BTR) Secretariat, which is coordinating the project.

From November 1, 2022, to January 10, 2023, the team is accepting submissions for events.

The team invites anyone planning an event to think of activities that involve the worldwide African diaspora, continental Africans, and Ghanaians.

"The objective is to create events that can bring together the global African community to celebrate the holiday season in Ghana," said the Authority's CEO, Akwasi Agyeman. Ghana has been the place to be at Christmas for the past three years since we established the December in GH program."

"We all know that every December, Accra becomes the cultural hotspot of Africa with so many events happening and many from the diaspora enjoying their holidays here," Annabelle McKenzie, the manager of the Beyond the Return Secretariat, added.

"Ghana is a diversified and lovely country with plenty of sights to see.

As a result, we encourage all event organizers to think about holding their events, festivals, concerts, and other activities in areas outside of Greater Accra. "We want the 'December in GH' vibe to be felt across the country, not only in the capital city," she added.

Once event organizers have submitted ideas and GTA has examined them for approval, an official calendar of events will be posted. Proposals can be submitted online via beyondthereturngh.com.

The ten-year effort 'Beyond the Return' is themed 'A Decade of African Renaissance.' It is built on the base of seven pillars. Each of the pillars is critical to the objective of continuous interaction with Africans in the diaspora and on the continent.

Experience Ghana, Celebrate Ghana, Give Back Ghana, Invest in Ghana, Brand Ghana, Diaspora Pathways to Ghana, and Promote Pan African Heritage and Innovation are the seven pillars of the initiative.

When preparing an event, potential event organizers must think about how their event connects to the pillars.
