The allegations against him include currency tampering and Naira misuse.

Bobrisky, whose true name is Idris Okuneye, is accused of mistreating and disfiguring banknotes at a Lagos movie premiere.

They claim she "sprayed" bills, which is code for throwing them into the air in gratitude. In Nigeria, "Spraying" is a custom at weddings and other festivities.

Since the notes can then be trampled upon when they fall to the ground, this is theoretically illegal.

At the premiere of Ajakaju, which was produced by actress and producer Eniola Ajao, last month at Film One Circle Mall in the upscale Lekki neighborhood of Lagos, Bobrisky is accused of spraying money.

With almost five million Instagram followers, the celebrity has not yet made a response.

Without providing a timeline, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) spokesman Dele Oyewale informed the BBC that Bobrisky would face charges in court as soon as the investigations are finished.

Actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin was given a six-month prison sentence in February for trampling on and spray-painting fresh naira bills.
