The Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region, Mr.Francis Kwadwo Oppong has engaged in an crucial meeting of Executive Committee Chairpersons of the Assembly together with some heads of departments to discuss issues of importance and the way forward of the District Assembly.

The Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region, Mr.Francis Kwadwo Oppong has engaged in a crucial meeting of Executive Committee Chairpersons of the Assembly together with some heads of departments to discuss issues of importance and the way forward for the District Assembly.

The meeting served as a viable platform for the five various sub-committee being set up by the leadership of the Assembly to carry out reports on the critical ongoings of social and infrastructural intervention developmental projects and programs of the district. 

The members of the five committees submitted their reports and recommendations at the meeting which was held on Monday, June 20, 2022. The committee reports and recommendations would be presented in the upcoming General Assembly Meeting (GAM).

In the meeting chaired by Mr. Oppong, the members of the Development Planning Committee (works sub-committee) have encouraged the Works and Building Department of Assembly to ensure the timely issuance of building permits to people who are required to build houses and other structures in the district.

The members of the Agriculture sub-committee of the Assembly have taken their turn to brief the meeting with their reports and recommendations.
They urged the Assembly to ensure that the agriculture machinery such as tractors was used effectively to facilitate the implementation of the various agriculture policies of the Assembly under the government flagship program, the District-One-Factory agenda.

On the issue of the rice processing factory, the committee urged the Assembly to ensure that the factory is being opened to its intended farmers, particularly the rice-growing farmers in the district.
They also suggested the provision of the veterinary officers to the district.
On the matters of works and planning department, the members of the committee narrated that some farmers have been affected because of the implementation of the various road projects in the district.
Against this background, they asked the assembly to consider the compensation packages for the affected farmers to bring sanity, peace, and harmony to the district.
On the issue of security, the committee appealed to the Assembly to ensure the urgent erections of the street lights in the locations of the various streets within the communities to ensure maximum security for the people in the district.
For the social services, the members of the sub-committee pointed out that the Assembly should fact truck ongoing court building project to deal with judiciary matters and services to the people in the district.
The health sub-committee entreated the Assembly to continue to intensify education on the safety protocols of the global deadly coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, saying  that the disease is still with "us here in Ghana."
The members of the disaster management sub-committee discussed issues of the havoc caused by the ruins to the building structures of both Nkrankwanta Senior High School (SHS) and District Assembly (D/A) Primary in March 2022.
In this sense, the committee tasked the Assembly to impress upon the officials of the Dormaa West District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to release relieved items on time to be equally distributed to the people, particularly residents of Yaakrom township who were displayed by the heavy storm in the district.
In this regard, the committee suggested to the Assembly to find ways by assisting the affected residents and students by the ruins.
In response, the DCE congratulated the members of the five committees for their work done and assured the Assembly's readiness and commitment to implement their reports and recommendations.
He further entreated them to work in unity and team with the assembly to resolve issues of teenage pregnancy, improper disposal of waste, unapproved construction, and improper layout which are the major challenges to the assembly. 
He again asked them to help the assembly in revenue collection by educating the residents on the importance of paying their property rates.
Mr. Oppong stressed that Assembly through the government will continue providing resources for the improvement in the well-being of Ghanaians and the implementation of laudable interventions such as free SHS, One District One Factory, Planting for Food and Jobs,  Planting for Exports and Rural Developments, One Village One Dam among many others.
He then added that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has taken initiative to enhance the development of the Agricultural sector.
Ending his speech, the DEC used the platform to call on the assembly members in the various electoral areas of the district to work hand in hand with the assembly to ensure massive development in the district.
