The Volta Regional Secretariat of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned persons who are interested in parliamentary elections not to involve themselves in any form of campaign activity after the 2020 election.

According to the Regional Secretary of the party, James Gunu in a statement issued after the party held a post-election retreat in Ho, “the NDC has not officially opened nominations for parliamentary primaries” so it’s therefore against the party’s code for anyone to start campaigning at this time”.

James Gunu said party folks that will engage in campaign activities, which he described as “anti-party behaviour” would not be spared and “the party would not hesitate to apply the appropriate sanctions against anyone found culpable”

In the statement issued on Monday, June 21 2020 after the retreat on Sunday, June 20, the party’s Secretary emphasized the need for every party member and Ghanaians as a whole to participate in the ongoing 2021 Population and Housing Census.

The retreat was organized by the Volta NDC under the auspices of the Volta Members of Parliament caucus and the National Secretary of the party.

The meeting was used to review the 2020 general elections and ways to work for victory in 2024.
