Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, calling itself Oti Region Positive Thinkers Association has mounted pressure on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to absolutely avoid re-appointing the Oti Regional Minister Nana Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, his Deputy Minister and other non-performing Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) for the region.

According to their call to push for the removal of the MMDCEs, Regional minister and his deputy has become necessary because these top shots of the NPP in the region have allegedly caused the party to lose its eight seats of the Oti Region on December 7, 2020 polls.

The youth wings of the ruling New Patriotic Party alleged that the MMDCEs and some appointees worked against the victory which caused the party to abysmally lose the parliamentary in the Region to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking in an interview with the SoireeNews via telephone on Monday, January 11, 2020 spokesperson for the group Mr Abramani Alhassan, requested the President not to renew the mandate of the appointees if he wanted to expedite development of the region.

He alleged that the Regional Minister, his Deputy Mr Maxwell Blagogee, MMDCEs (Metro, Municipal and District Chief Executives) and some appointees worked against the victory of the ruling party in the 2020 general election leading to the loss of the only NPP seat.

Mr Alhassan stated that the appointees by their actions made the party unattractive and never supported the campaign activities of the constituencies, thereby ruining electoral chances in the general election.

He said the NMDCEs pitched themselves against the progress of the party and never campaigned for their parliamentary candidates in the 2020 election accusing some of exhibiting "personal, parochial and egoistic interest that gravely caused the party victory."

"We indulge President Akufo-Addo to exercise his prerogative not to renew the mandate of these appointees."

He said it was clear the appointees did not believe in the president's vision of the creation of a new region and to work for the development of the area, saying "it will be disastrous to honour them for a poor job done."

"We want to state that some of these MMDCEs have a personal parochial and egoistic interest has gravely caused the vanquish of their parliamentary seat and by this singular act of irresponsibility indulge President Nana Akufo Addo to exercise his prerogative to expel them from their positions.

He stressed that it is clear that the appointees are not believers of the president vision and not committed to work for the betterment of the people in the region for which will be disastrous to honour appointment into their respective offices.

They threatened to burn party offices and caused demonstration should president renew their mandate.
