However, he pointed out that the glorious state is struggling with issues like piracy, a lack of funding, the apathy of some important stakeholders, and a drop in audience size.

On Tuesday, July 25, Mr. Okyere gave the opening remarks at the third Graphic Showbiz summit. He noted that despite the daunting obstacles, the business nonetheless benefited from a number of variables.

"The rising popularity of streaming platforms like Showmax has given Ghanaian films a new platform to be seen by viewers all over the world.

For instance, the establishment of the Akwaaba Magic channels by MultiChoice has inspired producers like Ivan Quashigah, Shirley Frimpong Manso, and young aspiring producers like our MultiChoice Talent Factory graduates to capitalize on the prospects within," he said.

Afua Kissi-Nyame, Head of Marketing for Multichoice Ghana, Peter Sedufia, film director and CEO of Oldfilm Productions, Ivan Quashigah, film producer and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, actor Prince David Osei, and George Bosompim, lecturer at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), served as the forum's special guests.

The editor of Graphic Showbiz, Ms. Adwoa Serwaa Bonsu, stated in a presentation that the purpose of the forum was to provide a venue for competent panelists who were familiar with the elements of filmmaking to determine the path of our film industry.

Franklin Sowah, the director of marketing for Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), thanked the panelists and attendees for attending the event and participating in a timely debate about the film business.

He also committed the GCGL to building appropriate forums for fruitful discussions about Ghana's creative industries, especially the film sector.
