Residents at Mensakrom, a suburb of  Kotokrom electoral area in the Sunyani East Municipality of the Bono Region have raised concerns over a dilapidated school structure that poses threat to the lives of school children.


According to them, the deplorable nature of the structure compels school authorities to closes it down during the rainy season to avoid disaster.
In an interview with some of the residents, whiles sharing their view on the bad state of the Mensakrom JHS they called for an immediate intervention to help save any future disaster.
According to the residents, the roof of the six-unit classroom block, which Was partly ripped off some time ago, is yet to be rehabilitated years after that incident.
The school according to them has nurtured thousands of youth and provided knowledge for countless residents in the community, but the state of the school structure is not something old students, parents, teachers and current students are proud of.
A student called Alima also giving an account of the stress they go through studying under such a death trap structure, appealed to the authorities to come to their aide.
Teaching comes to an abrupt end whenever there is a change in the weather, indicating possible rainfall, and according to the Parents Teachers Association, this has taken a toll on enrolment.
However, SoireeNews reporter interview the Chief of Mensakrom, Nana Commodore Martey also made a passionate appeal to the Government to revamp their school in the shortest possible time.
“I am appealing to the Government, the Ministry of Education, the MP for the Sunyani East Constituency Honourable. Akwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh and other organizations to as an urgency come to our aid”, the chief appealed.
