Road Crashes Kills 9 Persons 14 Others Sustains Injuries In Bono Region This Year 

The Bono Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent, Stephen Tenkorang has disclosed that a total of nine(9) lives perished through road accidents in the Bono Region from January to the early stage of February this year.

The Bono Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent, Stephen Tenkorang has disclosed that a total of nine(9) lives perished through road accidents in the Bono Region from January to the early stage of February this year.

In an interview with Soiree News Nana Anfreh on Thursday,  Superintendent Stephen Tenkorang said a total of 12 accidents have been recorded same period.

A total of 4 commercial,5 private vehicles and 6 motorcycles involved in the various road crashes resulted in 14 injuries, he explained.

The Bono Regional MTTD Commander added that Sunyani is leading with 5 deaths followed by Wenchi with about 3 to 4 deaths.

He attributed the contributing factors of the accidents to overtaken, intake of drugs, alcohol, tiredness, flaunting of road traffic regulations among others.

For his part Gabriel Okyere a research fellow at the National Road Safety Authority in the Bono Region said to avoid or to reduce road accidents on our roads is a collective responsibility for all.

He wants the government to dualize our roads, Police and DVLA officials to enforce rules and regulations governing our roads, Ghanaians should stop hacking on walkways constructed for pedestrians.
