The chiefs and people of Ga Mashie have imposed the one-month-long ban on the drumming and noise-making in the Ga State which takes effect today [Monday 9, 2022], with a call on all the persons living within the Accra metropolis to respect the customs, usages, practices, beliefs, and traditions of the Ga people.

The chiefs and people of Ga Mashie have imposed the one-month-long ban on the drumming and noise-making in the Ga State which takes effect today [Monday 9, 2022], with a call on all the persons living within the Accra metropolis to respect the customs, usages, practices, beliefs, and traditions of the Ga people.
The Ga Traditional Council (GTC) headed by the Paramount Chief of the Ga Traditional Area, His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II which made the foregoing call entreated all and sundry to comply with the one-month long ban on drumming and noisemaking to forestall peaceful and unity among the people.
 
The Council stressed the need for the citizens and residents of Accra to refrain from making derogatory remarks about the rites of the chiefs and people of the Ga State, saying that "this is who we are and we value our tradition and culture."
The one-month-long ban is an annual custom that precedes the celebration of the Homowo festival of the people of Ga Mashie.
The Ga traditional authorities asked all churches, mosques, and other religious bodies to desist from making noise as the ban was to usher in the celebration of the Ga Homowo festival.
During the period of the ban, the usual form of worship should be confined to the premises of churches/mosques, and noise levels are minimized to the barest limits possible.
They noted that the religious bodies and the traditional authorities must show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another.
The positioning of loudspeakers outside the premises of churches, mosques, and pubs are banned. Roadside evangelists are to cease their activities during this period.
Apart from an identifiable task force which consists of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) personnel, the Police Service, and Representatives from the Traditional Councils with tags, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis.
Boundaries to be affected are Northern Boundary: Boundary dividing Accra from the Eastern Region.
Western Boundary: Odukpon Kpehe (Kasoa)
Eastern Boundary: Osu In addition, residents are to note that all villages and towns under the Osu, Ngleshie Alata, and Ga Traditional Councils are affected by this ban.
