The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Mr Alfred Amoah, has reiterated that government would not shield any individual or group who would engage in acts that would derail the peace the people are currently enjoying in the municipality.
Mr Amoah who doubles as the Chairman of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Security Community (MUSEC), therefore, appealed to the people, particularly the youths in the municipality to desist from the negative or bad activities that would land them into the grip of the law.
The DCE decried over the growing acts of indiscipline in the youths of the municipality and he subsequently condemned the rate at which indiscipline is eating into the moral fibre of the youths in the Ghanaian society.
He stated that it is high time those in authority crack the whip and make sure that there is a discipline in all facets of life.
He suggested that the exercise to instil discipline in Ghanaians should start from school, especially, at the basic level of education so that the pupils will grow up with it.
Mr Amoah charged all the school-going children in the municipality to adhere to the rules and regulations prescribed by the school authority and also go out to explain to their parents the need to be law-abiding citizens.
The DCE made the call in a response to the recent action taken by some aggrieved youths to attack and vandalize the Bibiani Fire Station.
It would be recalled that six persons allegedly involved in an attack and vandalization of the Bibiani Fire Station have been remanded into police custody for two weeks by a Bibiani Circuit Court.
An irate mob from the Bibiani community besieged the Bibiani Fire Station on Sunday and vandalized the station due to the inability of the fire service personnel to respond to an emergency call because the fire tender had broken down.
In an interview with journalists, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO 1 Timothy Osafo Affum, appealed to the residents of Bibiani to assist with information to aid the arrest of the remaining offenders.
Explaining what happened, he said, “the community mobilized themselves because they thought it was a deliberate act on the part of the personnel not to respond to their call.”
“Fortunately, all the personnel saw the attack coming so all of them were able to escape, but they vented their anger on the station.”
“After committing that offence, they run into the bush, so a lot of them have gone into hiding,” ACFO 1 Timothy Osafo Affum said.
