The General Secretary of the National Association of Ghana Registered Midwives assured the minister of their full commitment to providing quality health services, as well as supporting the Regional Minister to succeed in achieving his objectives.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu has implored the leadership of the National Association of Ghana Registered Midwives to explore more in order to reduce infant mortality rates.

He also mentioned that maternal mortality rates as well as reducing pregnancy-related sufferings should be areas the Association must consider seriously.

Honourable Shaibu however, commended the midwives for their dedication and commitment in ensuring that no pregnant woman dies during the process of delivery.

The Minister disclosed that, in line with his ministerial role and as the board chairman for Tamale Midwives and Nurses Training College, he has an interest in developing Midwives and Nurses both human and infrastructure to uplift the image of Midwives and Nurses in the region and to further strengthen the health delivery system.

He assured the leadership of his support, as the doors of his office are always opened to discuss issues confronting the association in the region.

The General Secretary of the Association, Harison Ampaabeng on behalf of the team, harnessed the opportunity to congratulate the Minister for his appointment as the Northern Regional Minister.

He said, as part of the responsibilities of midwives, they provide care to women and babies during the antenatal, intranasal, and postnatal periods, as well as providing high quality, culturally sensitive care during labour.

He assured the minister of their full commitment to providing quality health services, as well as supporting the Regional Minister to succeed in achieving his objectives.
