Out of a total of One thousand and ten cases mediated by the Central Alternative Dispute Resolution(CADR) within the Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Seven hundred and fifty-two(752) cases representing 75.45% were rent-related.

This, the ADR Mediator, Mr. Stephen Kutrame expressed worry about and called for a pragmatic approach to addressing the ever-increasing rent challenges.

Details of a report gathered from the CADR indicated that while most tenants found it difficult to pay their rent due to the loss of jobs, other tenants complained of obnoxious increments due to a lack of proper control of rent by authorities.

The report further revealed that sexual relationships between some landlords or ladies and their tenants which turn sour also cause misunderstanding between the parties resulting in the nonpayment of rent.

The report, which covered the period between January 2021 and December 2021 recorded 20 cases for child maintenance, indebtedness represented 108, family dispute represented10 cases, and family property dispute 45.

The rest were 60 for land and 15 cases of marital disputes were recorded.

In the end, the ADR Mediator, Mr. Stephen Kutrame urged the government to commit many resources to the affordable housing project to help gradually reduce the housing deficits.
