Thousands of aggrieved residents, drivers and students in the Golf City Yellow Sign Board, Saki, Bediako and Gbele enclaves in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Regio, have threatened to stage a naked demonstration against the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Member of Parliament (MP) and government over the poor nature of their roads which is killing innocent people in their areas.

According to the residents, they have realized that all the successive governments have failed to pay the needed attention to the deplorable nature of all the four major economic roads in the Kpone-Katamanso municipality.
They pointed out that the roads through Golf City Yellow Sign Board High Tension to Kpone-Katamanso Barrier and the stretch from Saki through Kakasonaka Number and Number Two, including Kpone-Gbele are in a poor state.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, the spokesperson for the the residents in the four areas, Mr.Amuzu Edudzi Maxwell indicated that they had been deceived for far too long, and the best way for them is to demonstrate.

He told Soireenews.com that several efforts in making the MP for the area, Honourable Joseph Akuerteh Tettey and Municipal Chie Executive of the Kpone-Katamanso, Mr Samuel Okoe Amanquah popularly known as 'Okoson' to lobby the government authorities to repair the poor roads have proved futile.
”We will demonstrate because we are disappointed over the failure of the government to repair our poor roads. For years, we have appealed to authorities to repair our roads but they have failed. We will first organize a press conference, and if the leaders fail to address our concerns, we will advise ourselves,m” he added.

He said the patience of the people of the four areas to have their share of the national cake, was overstretched, and running out, and the next decision to take is to mobilise the people and hit the streets to register their protest against the neglect, and fight for what is due the four communities within the Kpone-Katamanso.
He lamented that “roads linking the Ashaiman, Tema and Kpone-Katamanso Barrier are in deplorable conditions, saying that a 35-year-old native of the Saki area had not seen a tarred road before since they were born.
He said the passion of the people to help government succeed could not be in doubt, but if their demands for equal opportunity continued to be ignored, the support would wane as the people would no longer have trust in the government.
He appealed to Mr. Amankuah to prioritize rehabilitation of their roads.
He stated that the MCE should help fix the deplorable roads in the municipality to gain the support of the residents in his administration.
Mr Maxwell added that the Municipality generated enough revenue but was denied development and lamented that Taxi and Commercial drivers spent all their savings on spare parts due to the bad state of the road networks within the municipality.
He explained that, criminals took advantage of the poor state of the roads and attacked residents who went about their normal duties; when the roads were in good shape the Police could respond promptly to combat any criminal activities.
He pointed out that the welfare of Unit Committee Members should be a concern to the MCE as development at the local level begins within the Unit Committee and reiterated the call to fix the roads within the Municipality.
Other residents also expressed similar sentiments to Soireenews.com and tasked the MCE to move on the ground, engage strategic stakeholders, traditional leaders, traders, commercial drivers, politicians and religious members.
The residents noted that periodic engagement with the people would help the new MCE to appreciate the task on the ground, mobilize the people to support him execute it, “but if he stays in the office, he will fail”.
