Ebo Turkson has been appointed an External Member of the Bank of Ghana Monetary Policy Committee(MPC).

Professor Turkson replaces Dr. John Kwakye as External Member of BoG's  MPC

Professor Festus Ebo Turkson has been appointed an External Member of the Bank of Ghana Monetary Policy Committee(MPC).

His appointment which came up on April 20, 2022, follows the retirement of Dr. John Kwakye as an External Member of MPC upon his successful statutory term limit.

Under section 27(3)(E) of the Bank of Ghana 2002 (Act 612) as amended by the BoG amendment Act, 2016(Act 918), Professor Festus Ebo Turkson was appointed.
Professor Festus Ebo Turkson, being a Development Economist with specialization in macroeconomics and finance, monetary and financial economics, small and medium enterprises development, industrial policy, applied microeconomics, and trade policy and finance, the MPC hoped he would bring his rich expertise to bear.
Before his appointment, he was an Associate professor of Economics at the University of Ghana with an Economic Research, teaching, and consultancy career spanning over 20 years.

Professor Festus Ebo Turkson holds a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham and is a member of the Leverhulme Centre of Research on Globalization and Economics policy of the school of Economics of the Nottingham University. 
Professor Turkson is also a member for many years of the standing of the African Economic Research consortium.

The Board of Directors of the Bank of Ghana while expressing appreciation to Dr. Kwakye for his contributions to monetary policy deliberations and formulations during his tenure was confident that Professor Turkson would be an important addition to the membership of the MPC and as well contribute to his vast experience to the work of the MPC.
His appointment comes on April 20, 2022.
