IT HAS EMERGED that the scores of pregnant women were reported to have been dying in the New Botianor-Mill Eleven enclave of the South Municipality in the Greater Accra Region due to death trap road network in the area.
According to the aggrieved residents and drivers, the deplorable nature of the road network connecting the Mile Eleven junction to CAC through to Container is claiming lives of pregnant women whiles others loss their unborn babies whenever they plied the bad road to hospital and other daily activities.
The heartbreaking situation has angered the residents and drivers in living in Mile Eleven in New Botianor who have came publicly to register their dissatisfaction over the bad state of their road network.
The Soireenews's senior journalist, Mr Freeman Koryekpor Awlesu speaking in an interview with some of the residents hinted that, they have been totally neglected by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro Constituency, Honourable Sylvester Tetteh and MCE for Ga South Municipal Assembly, Mr. Joseph Nyarni Stephen over the years since all efforts made to get them fixed the road yielded no positive results.
The scores of drivers also noted that, they visited the mechanic shops on daily basis which is seriously affecting their businesses hence calling on the MP and MCE to put punitive measures in place to fix the road to promote easy transportation system in the area.
They noted that for many years now, the residents in the area have continued to suffer from poor road networks linking their communities.
These residents have had their first share of the bad road.
The bad state of road has made life unbearable for commuters and people of the community in recent times.
Residents and drivers of the are up in arms with Honourable Sylvester Tetteh to fulfill his campaign promise of fixing the road network in the area.
The residents told the Soireenews.com that during the 2020 campaign, the MP promised to fix the road should they vote for him to represent them in parliament, but he has failed to honour his promise without any explanation of what may have been the delay.
Mr Solomon Adjei,who has been a commuter on the road for over 10-years said, sick people die on the road every day because they are unable to rush them to seek medical treatment at the point of call.
Some drivers claim as a result of the poor state of the road, the spare parts they use on their cars do not last long and therefore they are compelled to regularly buy spare parts all the time thus creating added costs for them.
Madam Mary Asare, a provision shopkeeper and some others also lamented how the nature of the bad road affected their businesses.
They said if there should be a competition for bad roads in Ga South Municipality, the Mill Eleven would outshine other numerous ones across the Municipality.
