The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, has restored power to residents of Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo municipalities in the Eastern Region of Ghana. This development comes on the back of the IGP's visit to the area.

The Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, engaged in a fruitful stakeholder meeting when he arrived in the area.

His visit was as a result of suspected planned disturbances by the youth in the area, which he had to foil.

He therefore advised the residents to desist from any chaotic acts and be at peace with officials of  ECG otherwise the police will descend heavily on them.

He said “If you have any mindset for destruction, I want to urge you to stop it because you will be destroying your own future and if you see someone with a mindset of destruction, and you don’t advise them to stop it, whatever he or she destroys will come and affect you.”

“If you choose not to stop it or tell the others to stop it, we (Police) will come for them, and we will do it in a manner and a way that nobody will appreciate it.”

Residents of Odumase and Somanya have resisted the ECG from installing new prepaid meters in the communities.  These communities have been without electricity since the 6th of December this year.

The Assemblyman for Agbom-East electoral area, Daniel Nartey welcomed the power restoration, saying it will enhance business activities.

He thanked the IGP and MCE for lighting up their lives once again.
