Pope heads to South Sudan for first visit

As part of what the Roman Catholic Church refers to as a pilgrimage for peace in Africa, Pope Francis will continue his journey from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to South Sudan on Friday.
Francis will be joined in the capital, Juba, by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. It will be the first papal visit since South Sudan gained independence in 2011.
