The mystery 110 votes in Kenya election results

A review of the official presidential results announced by Kenya's head of the national election commission on Monday reveals that little more than 100 votes were cast but were not counted.

According to a statement by Wafula Chebukati, chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, there were 14,213,137 total votes cast, but when you add all the votes cast for each candidate, you get 14,213,027.

The inconsistency was caused by the entry of the votes for two counties that don't correlate to votes received by all the candidates, according to a BBC Reality Check review of the data.

For Kilifi county in coastal Kenya, there is a difference of 10 votes and for West Pokot in the Rift Valley, there is a difference of 100 votes between the votes the candidates got and the total valid votes listed for the county.

Kilifi – 285496 while all the candidates got 285486

West Pokot - 173705 while votes for the candidates are 173605

It is not clear whether this was just a human error.
