Policewoman Shot Dead By Unknown Assailants At Bawku

A policewoman, Constable Regina Angenu of the Paga Police Station, has been shot dead by some unknown assailants at Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The Police in a statement indicated that “at about 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022, the deceased, PW/Constable Regina Angenu of Paga Police Station paid a visit to Const. Erasmus Enkson of Bawku Division MTTU.”

On their way to Constable Enkson’s barracks, they were attacked by unknown assailants, and the policewoman was shot in the process. She was sent to Presbyterian Mission Hospital for treatment but died whiles undergoing treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to find the culprit to face the law and also seek justice for the deceased,  Constable Regina Angenu.

Some citizens after getting to know what happened voiced out their concern and also pleaded to stop killing the police, ''the police are our friend, they are there to protect us but why are we killing them instead''

''the police are also human, they have families too, their wives, their children, their husbands, we should think of them''

Some citizens who spoke to the media couldn't control their tears after what happened with Constable Regina Angenu as this is not the first time security personnel have lost their lives in this manner.

Meanwhile, the body has been sent to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
