Pep Guardiola has played down Manchester City’s transfer talks and opined that the former Champions have their own way of acquiring their targets.

City have so far not manage any major signing in the transfer market amidst the numerous speculation surrounding the sea Blues, with the latest linking Lionel Messi to his former boss at the Etihad.

The Argentine was reported by Cadena SER to have halted negotiations over a contract renewal and could walk away due to his current relationship with the current board.

"I’m not going to speak about transfers until the end of the season. My wish is that Messi is going to stay in Barcelona."

When pressed on transfer targets and the possibility of seeking reinforcements at center-back, Guardiola repeated: "At the end of the season. We still have incredible targets to fight for."

Messi will soon enter into the final year of his contract after he agreed to an extension to stay with the club through the 2020–21 season.

His side are four points behind Real Madrid who are yet to lose a game since the restart. They welcome Espanyol to the Bernabeu on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
