Jose Mourinho has rejected a move to manage Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyon after Sylvinho was sacked on Monday.

Sylvinho, former Barcelona and Arsenal left back enjoyed 141 days as the manager of the French side and according to the president, the former Manchester United manager was the ideal replacement until he turned down the deal.

“We had some fairly flattering exchanges over SMS. It was nice for everyone,” Get French Football reported.

“He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club,” Antoine Aulas, the president of Olympique Lyonnais said.

Jose Mourinho, a regular pundit on Sky Sports has been linked to succeed Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs after their dip in form in the League and Champions League tournaments.

Mourinho has already revealed the condition he will consider before resuming as a manager for any club.

“The only thing I know is what I don’t want,” he said. “What I don’t want is crystal clear.

“What I want – the general profile of it of course – but I cannot say clubs and country.

“I am quite pathological in this sense that I have to play to win.”

The Portuguese has been out of managerial duty after he was sacked by ‘struggling’ Manchester United last year.
