Pass Anti-LGBTQ+Bill Into Law--Kyidomhene of Gomoa Tuansa Urges Parliamentarians
Nana kwesi Panyin I Kyidomhene of Gomoa Tuansa
The Kyidomhene of Gomoa Tuansa in the Central Region, Nana Kwesi Panyin I, has stated that it is a high time for the country's parliamentarians to pass the anti-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) bill into law n the country.
The traditional office holder stressed that gay sex is illegal in highly religious and conservative Ghana.
The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021 which was introduced to the House in July 2021 underwent its First Reading by Parliament on Monday 2nd August, 2021.
The proposed legislation which aims to provide for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values seeks to restrict LGBTQ+ communities and any activities related to them.
The new Bill would go much further, criminalising the promotion and funding of LGBTQ+ activities as well as public displays of affection, cross-dressing and more, while campaigning for LGBTQ+ persons on social media or online platforms is also prohibited under the Bill.
The Bill further seeks to provide for protection of and support for children, persons who are victims or accused of LBBTTQQIAAP+ and related activities and other persons and related matters while people advocating the rights of these sexual minorities will also be penalized.
Proponents of the Bill want the promotion, advocacy, funding, and acts of homosexuality to be criminalized in the country saying it is a world-class piece of legislation which should be a reference material for other Parliaments seeking to pass similar legislation.
The memorandum accompanying the Bill said the object of the Bill is to provide for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values, proscribe LGBTQ+ and related activities, propaganda of, advocacy for or promotion of LGBTTQQIAAP+ and related activities.
The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George, who led the proponents in championing the passage of the Bill into law, presumed it is a landmark legislation that has taken a fantastic team of professionals to put together.
However, speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com at Gomoa Tuansa, Nana Panyin I noted that the chiefs and various traditional office holders in the country do not want this evil practice to be promoted in Ghana.
According to the chief, it is against the culture of the nation and therefore should not be encouraged.
He said the nation frowns upon same sex marriages because it is against the will of the Supreme Being [God] who is highly revered in the country.
"It is clear that it is the whites who are promoting the gay and lesbian practice, he said, stressing that the recent visit of Vice–President of USA to Ghana reinforced the position of Western Counties on gay/lesbianism practice when she emphasized that countries which do not allow the practice would not get financial support from the Developed Countries.
The chief maintained that, if it is for our acceptance of financial support from them that would secure us funds , then the Developed countries should take their money for us to struggle in dignity for survival.
He said there is the need for the President Nana Akuffo Addo to come out clearly and boldly to announce that the practice would not be tolerated in "our country because it is an abomination."
He stated that the Late President,Professor J.E.A Mills once told a former Prime Minister of Britain in the face that Ghana would never accepted the practice and added that if that was to be a condition for financial aid from their end then they should keep their money to themselves.
The Chief noted that the augment of the supporters of gay that human rights of those engaged in the practice should be considered is neither here nor there since even animals do not practice same sex.
"Ghana is not poor to be deceived with money to accept same sex marriage , stressing that our country is blessed with mineral resources such as Gold , Bauxite, Manganese,Silver, Bronze,Timber, and Agricultural wealth so we do not need same sex marriages- bribe money to survive," the chief stated.
Even Prekese, an agricultural product that is gifted by God to only Israel and Ghana alone in the whole world could be developed for a lot of money to be made from it for us," he said.
Touching on agriculture , Nana Panyin I said it is unfortunate that Ghana is rich in Agric but food is so expensive that it is very difficult for ordinary  people to buy food and fish.
"It is because we have left farming in the hands of only aged people, that is why food production has been low with its consequences of high food prices in the country," the Chief averred.
He said this trend must be reversed by motivating the young people to go into Farming and fishing  instead of chasing non-existent white colour jobs.
Nana Panyin further said that personalities such Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo of Christo Asafo fame and an inventor should be made to train more youths to inturn open their own jobs to employ others.
Touching on women and children , the Chief noted that they suffer too much because opportunities are not available for them to live quality lives, for that reason he suggested that Govt should make available soft loans for women to invest to live comfortable lives.
Nana Panyin noted that the Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Quarm is not collaborating with Chiefs in the area to develop the place , a  situation which the Chief emphasized that is very disturbing.
He said the Chiefs are ready to provide land for a Hospital project for their people but the DCE is not forth coming for collaboration to get the prpoposed Hospital project excuted for the people of Gomoa Tuansa and its surrounding areas.
