NDC Supporters Demand Accountability From Okyehene And President Of NHCs On Trees Planted With GNPC Money; But Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II Denies Receiving Cash From GNPC
King of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the President of the National House of Chief (NHCs) who doubles as the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anwiaso Traditional Area in Western North Region, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, have been challenged to account for the trees supposedly planted with a whopping cash of GH¢1.5 million from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

According to the group of supporters and activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who raised these concerns, it is high time for them to demand from the two prominent chiefs to show where exactly they have planted the trees with the GNPC money they secured to execute the projects.

They pointed out that Ghana National Petroleum Corporation has justified a board decision to approve a whopping GH¢1.5 million to Okyenhene, Amoatia Ofori Panin, for a tree-planting project.

In a news item by the General Manager (MD) of Sustainability Division at GNPC, Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, captured by Soireenews.com, he said the GH¢1.5 million for the tree planting project will be disbursed to the Okyenhene over a three-year period.
“The tree planting for Okyenhene is a project to plant 25 million trees in three years. This request was received over four months ago and it has gone through a lot of discussions to determine the viability of such a project.
“GNPC believes in environmental sustainability…and we thought that this is a very important project that we support. And the Board in its wisdom felt that if the country, through the Okyehene, can plant 25 million trees in three years then it is a step in the right direction,” he explained on Joy FM’s Top Story.
However, the group of the NDC supporters and activists stressed that they dodbted that the Okyenhene used the money for its intended purposes and asked that where are trees planted by the chief.
"We are now asking the two, particularly Okyenhene to make the public the state of the trees that have planted after taking the money from the GNPC to do so.

"If the trees are really planted we care to see where the trees are planted with the GNPC cash. We want the location of their farms so that we can go and verify the things ourselves.

"With due respect we are daring the two chiefs to submit themselves to the public scrutiny if indeed they used the money to plant the trees and the trees are doing well as being percribed in the policy of the GNPC," they youths of the NDC dared them.

But in an interview with the President of President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, he stated that he has not been given any money from the GNPC to plant trees.
Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi dared the NDC supporters to check their fact right before putting this misinformation into the public domain, because"my hands are clean."

According to the group, the President of the National House of Chiefs and the Okyehene must be made to account for the "pretend trees" supposedly planted with GNPC money.
They also emphasized the urgent need for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
and his Lands Minister must be made to account for the Greening Ghana Trees before another tree seedling is planted with Ghanaian taxpayers' money.
In a news item by concerned Ghanaians captured by Soireenews.com, they noted that President Akufo Addo, after pretending to be fighting Galamsey and Corruption; must not be allowed to pretend to be planting trees or reclaiming degraded or Looted Lands.
"Plundering of the Public Purse in particular GNPC money must be comprehensively investigated and the improper dole outs to Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo, Yaw Osafo Marfo and other undeserving persons must be taken through the process of "Disallowance and Surcharge" as intended by former Auditor General Yao Domelevo before he was hounded out of office by Akufo Addo and his cousin Nana Asante Bediatuo.
"Similarly, the "Soli Sole Sourcing"of Evans Mensah in the US$125,000 GNPC-AKER DEAL and the PetroSA-JOHL Chemupé Scandal must be thoroughly investigated and culprits and accomplices prosecuted and punished severely to serve as deterrent to others," they said.
They indicated that Ghana is facing an existential threat from Galamsey, yet Chairman Wuntumi and others walk free with Akufo Addo, even rushing to their defence.
They mentioned that Ghanaians are facing existential threats from forest degradation, declassification, and looting, including Estuaries and prime lands yet Charles Owusu, Clemence Gyato and others walk free.
According to them, the Ghanaian Media and CSOs have a duty and obligation to pursue the ongoing Plundering, Looting etc.
They mentioned that Akufo Addo's inactions and pretence will not save Ghana.
They added that the Parliament and the state investigative agencies, the special prosecutor, will be overwhelmed by the very high turnover of corruption scandals.
"As the excruciating hardships and the suffering of Ghanaians increase, even as the IMF conditionalities bite harder;
"Ghanaians will act, not just Judicial Service Workers but also all WORKERS in the coming months," they noted.
