As part of measures to curtail any possible threats of the novel coronavirus, sitting in Parliament from next week would be made partially virtual.

This was announced by Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin prior to the House taking adjournment today, the 21st January 2020.

As such, only one-third of members will be required to be present in the chamber while the others transact business from their offices.

Members of Parliament would, however, be allowed into the chamber as and when the need arises to contribute to debates on the floor.

According to Speaker, a fumigation exercise will also be carried out during the weekend at the chamber block and offices of MPs to make the place safer.

As such, the House may consider holding sittings from the tent erected at the forecourt where the President was sworn into office.
