Paramount Chief faces ten destoolment charges; Gomoa  Akyempim Omanhene Dragged to CRHCs

The woes of the embattled Paramount Chief of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area in the Central Region, Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II have been deepened as he faces the Central Regional House of Chiefs.

The trouble of the chief, Soireenews.com gathered, has characterized with the recent collective decision taken by the legally installed divisional chiefs and queen-mothers from the eighty-two (82) recognized towns and villages under the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area to finally drag Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II to Judicial Committee of the  Central Regional House of Chiefs (CRHCs).

The chiefs and Queens led by Gomoa Akwapim Omanhemaa, Obaatanpa Ama Eduwa I have on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, filed the petition at the CRHCs and leveled ten (10) destoolment charges against Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II.

Amongst these destoolment charges hinged on contempt and breach of tradition, outright fraud, and extortion of huge monies from his subjects, failing to account for royalty monies of, indiscriminate installation of non-citizens as chiefs, using traditional assets as his personal properties, poor governance, and mismanagement of funds of the stool.

The actions were based on the Gomoa Akwapim Omanhene's abysmal performance over the past 21 years, and the evidence of contempt and breach of tradition, outright fraud, mismanagement, and poor governance adduced from the petition, palace records, and incessant agitations and complaints from many communities in the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area.

In order to be faired and show human face in their arrangements for their destoolment charges preferred against the Gomoa Akyempim Paramount, the chiefs and queens have earlier addressed this destoolment petition to Obotantam Effrim X Akwamuhene, Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, and Nana Kwadofrakye V, Mankrado of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, and all the Divisional Chiefs of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, copied to Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, Omanhene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Ebusuapanyin Kojo Essel, the Registrar, Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council, and the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, was formally tabled for review and discussion by the Akwamuhene on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. 

Speaking in an interview with some senior journalists after filing the petition, Obaatanpa Ama Eduwa I on behalf of the divisional chiefs and queens stated that their decision to drag Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II was part of their legal processes to destool and replace him.

She pointed out that she and her followers didn't have any evil plans against Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, saying that she always believe in true speaking since it is only the truth that would make humans beings live a long life on this earth.

Having been the law-abiding citizens, she indicated that they thought otherwise that every destoolment actions they carried against the Gomoa Akwapim Paramount Chief should generally be followed by the rules of the chieftaincy laws.

She asserted that they had ratified the decision by the petitioners to dispense with the chieftaincy services of Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II and advised that measures be put in place with immediate effect to destool and replace Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II.

This development, according to her, was as a result of a resolution of a vote of no confidence passed on Obirifo Ahunuako Ahor Ankobea II by his Apakanhenfo, Ohagufo, Queen-mothers and the Divisional Chiefs of the Traditional Council at Apam.

According to the queen mother, similar charges preferred against Kusae Adu XV have been committed by Obrirfo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II.
