Over 50 soldiers killed in Burkina Faso attack

According to the Burkinabe army, more than 50 troops were slain in an alleged Islamic attack on Friday in the north.

A statement from the organization stated that 51 bodies had so far been discovered, other soldiers were still missing, and three injured soldiers had been evacuated from the location.

Eight people had been killed, according to the military, in what it characterized as fierce combat in the province of Oudalan early on Monday.

The number it claimed to have killed more than 100 attackers has not been independently verified.

Fighting in northern Burkina Faso has increased this year, with over 100 deaths reported in the first six weeks.

Two coups occurred last year as a result of the inability to stop the bloodshed, and the French military mission in the nation was terminated.

This incident was announced as France formally concluded its military operations in the nation where French troops have been stationed since 2015 to assist in the fight against militants.
