Over 153 Workers were Laid off by the Kejetia Phase Two Construction company.

According to the affected workers, the management gave them a letter of notification a month ago that their services are no more needed and that their contracts have been terminated effective January 6, 2023.

The Management of Contracta Construction UK Limited reconstructing the phase 2 of the Kumasi Kejetia Central Market has terminated the contracts of over 153 workers from almost all departments. 

According to the affected workers and victims, the action taken by the Contracta Management is as a result of financial challenges facing the company to pay the workers working for the company.

The workers who have been affected include steal benders, electricians, plumbers, carpenters and among other affected departments.

According to the affected workers, the management gave them a letter of notification a month ago that their services are no more needed and that their contracts have been terminated effective January 6, 2023. 

They again explained that "they don't have any problem with the termination of the contract but are demanding their full payments of their salaries before the said date because they have served us letters, meanwhile they are owing some of us for almost one-year others six months and over." the aggrieved workers lamented.

The aggrieved workers who didn't want to be captured on camera disclosed that, until they are paid all their money own them, they are not going to leave the company and go home until their salaries are paid fully to them.
