The Ahafo chapter of the Ghana Mine Workers Union has appealed to the government to expedite action on the construction of the Ahafo township roads and also provide other basic social amenities.

At a press conference organized by the Union at Kenyase No 1, the General Secretary of the Ahafo Chapter, Mr Peter Wilson, indicated that the bad state of roads in the area had compelled commercial vehicles to abandon certain routes.

This he said has impacted negatively on the local economy as farmers and traders are left stranded and their food produce left to rot on farms.

Mr Wilson told Soireenews that the market women and inhabitants of satellite communities are the hardest hit by the situation since vehicles conveying their goods are not prepared to go to the farms due to the deplorable nature of the roads.

They have, therefore, appealed to the government to come to their aid and help rehabilitate roads in the area to enable the people to lead normal lives.
