The school which is located at Obengkrom, a suburb of Dadieso, was established in 1991 with 41 pupils with a goal of educating children of the Obengkrom community and beyond.

THE OBENGKROM BASIC School in the Suaman District of Western North Region has commemorated its 30th anniversary with series of events which saw active participation of past and present staff and students of the school.
The school which is located at Obengkrom, a suburb of Dadieso, was established in 1991 with 41 pupils with a goal of educating children of the Obengkrom community and beyond.

Speaking at the grand durbar to mark the milestone, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Samuel Akakpo, expressed joy at the successes the school has attained as the school has 215 students in its 30th year.
He stated that as an institution, he and his staffs have worked extremely hard, as the fore administrators had done, taking into account of their cognitive, spiritual, and physical development of the children in the community as progressive.
Mr. Samuel Akakpo made a special commendation to the Chiefs and Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) for their crucial provisions to some needs of the school.
He added that the school lacks furniture for the wards, therefore appealing to stakeholders and philanthropist to aid them.
As part of the festivity, the authorities of the school organized themselves to raise fund to build JHS classroom block and teachers bungalows in a bid to enhance teaching and learning since the school lacks these facilities.
"We've taken part in BECE twice since the establishment of the school but we don't have JHS classrooms, we study in a church provided to us by the elders and in heartfelt, we don't have teachers bungalows here, all the teachers travel from Dadieso to this place, and Dadieso is far from here, in fact, we're suffering," Mr. Akakpo bemoaned.

Other needed item include teacher's chairs and tables to give the school a facelift.
The assemblyman for the Antokrom Electoral Area, Honorable Azamatsi Ernest, who resides at Obengkrom reiterated that the lack of facilities for the Basic school is abhorring and he had preceded to seek assistance from stakeholders but yielded in vain, hence taking the advantage to seek for funds for classroom blocks and the teachers bungalow.
The Queen-mother of Obengkrom, Nana Agyeiwaa Felicia on her part expressed her worry over the long time bad infrastructures of school since its establishment, therefore appealing for assistance since it is the only educational facility in the community.
