Removal Of Unapproved Vehicular Lights

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in collaboration with Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority has formed a task force to clamp down on drivers with unapproved vehicular lights as they extend the sensitization exercise to the Bono East Region.

The use of unprescribed lamps is contrary to regulation 65 of the Road Traffic Regulations 2012 (LI 2180) and is punishable by law hence the exercise.

The Bono East Regional Head of the National Road Safety Authority, Emmanuel Akyeampong-Parry has cautioned drivers against the use of unapproved lights since they contribute to the majority of road accidents at night, which claim many lives.

Mr Akyeampong made this disclosure in an interview with Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman when National Road Safety Authority together with DVLA, Police MTTD, and Media hit the streets to embark on a sensitization exercise where hundreds of unapproved lights on vehicles they came across were all removed.

Mr Akyeampong-Parry further noted that persons arrested and prosecuted for the said offence could be fined or imprisoned and in some cases be slapped with the two, therefore calling on drivers and riders to adhere strictly to road traffic regulations.
