The government through the Information Ministry Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has announced that the various Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives would be getting PROs to ease the hardship on the daily activities of the existing information officers.

In an exclusive interview with Mr Kwasi Owusu, Governance expert with Dzivon Justice Mensah (Ghanaba Baagio) on Shaft FM morning show sighted by Soireenews revealed that there is nowhere in Ghana's constitution does it grants the government the power by creating an office for PRO for MMDCEs because the information officers already assist as PROs for the various MMDCES.

He said the government is contradicting with the creation of a new office for PROs and MMDCEs while the country has an existing one the expect added.

The expect is alleging that the government is only trying to create jobs for the boys to the merit of the New Patriotic Party.

Mr Owusu is worried about some staff who are not useful to the country due to the higher number of personnel in some district, municipal, and metropolitan Assembly offices which is causing financial loss to the state

Meanwhile, some existing staffs are unable to function due to a lack of logistics hence the need for the government to assist them to function well rather than employing more people to cause the country a huge amount of financial loss.

He cited an example of a PRO defending an ongoing Takoradi interchange project in which the  GPRTU accuses the assembly of not consulting them before commencing the project.

He concluded that in some instances it is clear that the proposed office would be created to assist the government achieved its goal but prevent the ordinary Ghanaians from knowing the truth and real performance of the various MMDCES.
